Open-cast coal mines around Turkey’s overaged Yatağan Power Station had expanded so much, two villages have been subject to full-scale evictions in the last decade, after it turned out that the villages were sitting on coal reserves. Growing ever more hungry to devour new lands, open-cast mines providing coal to Yatağan Power Station might yet wipe off 19 more villages in Turkey’s south-western shore.
