After studying Economics at Middle East Technical University, I started working as a reporter at Cumhuriyet Daily (print) in 2011, and in late 2012 I launched witness storytelling platform Turkiye’den Siddet Hikayeleri. In 2013, I began writing columns, and then working as a full-time reporter for Daily Birgun (print). After a brief spell at Diken.com.tr (online), in 2018 I began contributing to Medyascope (online), as a multi-media investigative reporter, writing and producing videos on conflict, non-state violent organizations, political-economy of environment and energy.
I am an alumnus and research fellow of the AHDA Program of the Institute for the Study of Human Rights, Columbia University in the City of New York.
My first book Islamic State Networks (Tur. IŞİD Ağları) was published in 2018.
Besides contributing to Medyascope, I work on independent research projects, and video productions as well (See most recent collaborations here).
I pursue an amateur rugby career too; I have been a part of ODTU SK‘s setup for over 8 years, and played for New York City side Gotham Knights RFC for a season, and participated in Turkish Rugby Union National Team’s several international test matches. I am currently playing for Istanbul Ottomans RFC.
