While global efforts to tackle climate change increased phasing out from coal in many countries, Turkey’s leniency for coal generated energy has left its mark on 2000s and 2010s.

In 2018, I explored coal industry’s social effects on different communities in Turkey, together with photographers and videographers, for Greenpeace Mediterranean’s Coal Stories (TUR. Kömür Hikayeleri) project.

As a team of journalists and visual artists, we covered 10 different stories which were one way or another related to coal mining, coal-based power plants, or other aspects of the coal economy.

While the production of the website, photography and videography of each story handled by Greenpeace Mediterranean, I was responsible of research and story telling.

Please visit Greenpeace Mediterranean’s Kömür Hikayeleri website to read 10 articles written by me.
